That’s why writing about sport has always meant more to me than simply reporting results.

It’s about capturing what those moments mean to the people who lived them.

A lifetime of football writing

I’ve been writing about football for many years, contributing to national publications, football magazines, websites and supporter media, while also authoring books that explore the people, history and culture behind the game.

As both a lifelong supporter and an experienced journalist, I understand that football isn’t simply entertainment.

It’s heritage.

It’s identity.

I’ve written and published several books exploring Manchester United’s history, managers and iconic figures, combining detailed research with storytelling that brings familiar stories to life in new ways.

My latest book, Seven: Manchester United's Iconic Shirt, explores one of football’s most iconic shirt numbers, tracing the stories of the players who have worn Manchester United’s famous number seven shirt—from George Best and Bryan Robson to Eric Cantona, David Beckham, Cristiano Ronaldo and Ella Toone.

More than a history of a football shirt, it’s a story about identity, expectation and the players who shaped one of the most recognisable traditions in world football.
